Valentine’s Day is a great time for moms and educators to teach kids the joy of spreading kindness and love to everyone around them. In this post, I will be sharing Valentines ideas for kindergarteners and preschool valentine ideas too.

Valentine Activities You’ll Love

The heart is traditionally used as a symbol of Valentine’s Day. The heart is the driving force of all human emotion and feeling.

A heart theme can open up discussions of Feelings for preschoolers, you can discuss 2D Shapes, discuss ways to be helpful by being Bucket Fillers, and more.

This activity pack targets many skills like:

  • Increases creativity.
  • Boosts fine motor skills (Did you know that kids with better fine motor abilities are more likely to be successful in the areas that require language, numeracy, as well as attentional skills?)
  • Strengthens reading, writing, and spelling.
  • Improves math skills, counting, and number sense.

Importance of Theme-Based Learning

While these Valentine ideas for kindergarteners and preschoolers are tons of fun they’re also strategically designed to give your classroom maximum benefit! Here are some reasons why theme-based learning is important:

  • Your class will see that there are multiple ways to learn about one topic. Our variety of activities = endless options.
  • The differentiated activities also mean that you can cater to every child’s learning style.
  • The kids will also make meaningful associations. The information is not taught to them at random and they can link it.
  • Themed activities also give them more direction and help them retain focus for longer.
  • Provides structure. These activities are low prep so as a teacher, you can set it up with no fuss and give more time to helping your students, observing them, and interacting with them.

Use these puzzles at a Valentine’s Day party or write cute notes at the back and turn them into Valentine gifts. If you print a few puzzles, the kids can do the activity with their classmates. This teaches them about the importance of teamwork! You can laminate it, add it to a toys corner, and let your class enjoy it all year!

There are clip cards, task card activities, worksheets, ten frames, and more. Through improving their math skills, children develop critical thinking skills and learn how to understand the world around them and it boosts confidence. We usually enjoy these during morning work but they’d work great at a math center. The number cards can double as Valentines cards or birthday cards!

Valentines day for kindergarteners (7)

There are tracing, name spelling, and sequencing activities. Teaching your class how to spell their name is a HUGE part of getting them excited about reading and writing. Plus the tracing will help improve their hand coordination and they’ll be able to hold writing tools better!

Other activities include:

Use these on Valentines Day for kindergarteners or preschoolers. Truthfully, these can work for older kids too!
